AutoCAD 2K will work on WinXP. I know plenty Architects and designers in this area that refuse to constantly upgrade AutoCAD - most of them run 2000 or 2001 (one even runs R14) on WinXP. A few have stuck with Win2000 or even WinNT, but for the most part they've upgraded to WinXP for the usability of the OS and kept AutoCAD as is.
**EDIT** Just got a call from a softball buddy who also happens to be an architect - he told me AutoCAD 2000 will work on WinXP although AutoDesk will not support the installation and they have never certified AutoCAD 2000 to run on XP. FYI, his office just upgraded to 2005 from 2000. And he did suggest getting the AutoCAD 2000 service pack 2 if you are running on XP.
