ical on mac OSX Panther - creating a master company diary

Hi,

I am a member of a small company of 6 people and we use macs networked to a server. In most cases we all access common files stored on the server, commonly opening the file from the server location but viewing on our individual macs.

Currently the company diary is a book which everyone writes in and puts their appointments in but we would like to convert to a digital version and ical seems the obvious solution.

Firstly, is ical the best solution?

Secondly, if we converted to ical how could we keep one master diary which everyone can update from their desktop? - ideally, I thought it I would create the master on the server which everyone can access from their macs as we already do for other files, etc - but having read a few posts I am getting the impression it may not be that simple - can anyone give me an idea of what is involved or point me to a useful resource?

Has anyone here done anything similar?
Thanks
