Odd Java Installation Problem

I just recently built a new computer, with the help of your guys' ideas, and I am in the process of installing a bunch of software/updates I had with my old computer: things like Office, Java, video codecs, and such. I ran into a problem with installing java. I downloaded it, its during the installation, it froze up at the "Windows Installer: Preparing to Install" window. I even downloaded the installation package again and nothing had changed. Also, while I was trying to install Limewire, the same type of problem occured. Limewire apparently needs java so it said Limewire it said it was "trying to install java" it just sat there...it was working but I left it going for like 3 hours. Any luck? Are there some WIndows updates that I may not have that could be causing this problem,? ANyone else run into this problem?

Could me now having a AMD64 processor have anything to do with this software installation problems?>

Try taking a look at this thread: http://forum.pcmech.com/showthread.p...highlight=java

If limewire appears to be install, uninstall it. The same with the java package.
