I have a 355MB SQL DB backup from my forum site which I'm closing down. I was wondering if there is any way to convert the information in the backup into html or other readable format. What I want to do is keep the info and use it as library/referrence material.

Does the forum software have any sort of export function?

Couldn't you run the fourm software locally?

I'm running phpbb2, so the only way to get the DB off the remote server is in sql format using the DB backup function.

Yes, I can run it locally thanks I didn't think of that. But what I would like to do is make the data public without using forum software like a library. I know I could use forum software but what's the use of having it that way if people couldn't post? I know, this is confusing me too

What is the database software you are using? MySQL? M$ SQL Server?

I think your best bet is to export it to some XML format, depending on whether the database software supports it.

If you Google "MySQL XML export" it appears that there are utilities around to do just that.
