Mp3 Tagging
I need a mp3 tagger that will rename my files in my OS not just their jukebox.

Tagscanner would be my choice here, although statica's recommendation seems a tad more 'userfriendly'. See which suits you best.

tag and rename was awesome until it just stopped working after 10 minutes. It must be able to get the track names from the web somehow like tag and rename.

Tagscanner does get track names from the web. You'll find it under the 'tag processing tab'. In the top right corner, select "get tracknames from freedb".

Ok, i'll walk you through it
![]() on the opening screen, click browse and select the folder in which your MP3s are. Then, head to the 'Tag Processor' Tab. Your files in the folder you selected will be on the left. To get the tags from the net, you need to select only the tracks from a single album, and they need to be in the correct order as per the cd (use the 'move up/down' controls to get this right). In the top right pull-down menu, select 'get album info from freedb'. Then hit 'request'. It will bring up the best hit in the right-hand display. If it's correct, select 'save'. It will add the tags. Then, head back to the 'music renamer' tab. Using the '%1 - %2' commands, say how you want the programme to rename your tracks. I have '%1 - %3 - %7 - %2', to give 'Artist-Album-Track number-Track title'. Then click 'preview'. If you like the result, the next window will show you the output. Click 'rename' to complete the process. Hope this helps! If theres anything not clear just post back. Freakitchen |
