Can't remove or turn off software??

I am trying to get symantec/norton off my computer but I can't. I have tried to do it through add/remove software but it's not in there. I have looked in the actual folder of the program and can't find a uninstall option. It keeps popping up with messages like it's open on my system. I would really like to find out how to get rid of this program since I have switched my AV program and nolonger need norton. Please help!!!

Their site probably has the answer. If you search their KB with your specific version, OS, etc., they list steps for manually uninstalling most of their software.
