Deleting Write Protected Files

Is there a way to do this? I have some files on my computer that I don't need. How do I delete them? They say they are write protected but I don't need them.

if under windows, use "DOS Prompt"
type " del /f filename " without the quotes. or
"del /ar /ah filename"

What are some of the files you want to delete? They are usually write protected for a reason...

You cannot delete a file or a folder on an NTFS file system volume

If they are just "read only" files, you should have no problem. Windows will ask if you really want to delete them or not. What's the full message in the popup window you get??
