Hi,
I had a PC blow it's CPU, I upgraded it, it now looks like I have to reinstall windows xp. It's going from AMD to Intel and the PC won't boot. I did make a copy of the entire HD, can I take the Outlook.pst file from it and put it in the same place on the newly installed XP and Outlook, and have Outlook with all it's email and addresses from the old build? TIA

Try a repair reinstall of XP, that way you don't have to wipe the drive.

Thanks glc, I would prefer that method, would save a lot of work. If I get the new chipset drivers installed will it just ignore the old ones?

A repair reinstall will rewrite the entire hardware layer. You will have to install the new chipset drivers. A good registry cleaner should take care of all the old stuff. Worth a try - if it doesn't work right, then you can consider a nuke and pave. It's best if you disconnect all USB devices (except keyboard and mouse) and peripherals until after the reinstall.
