Game on virtual drive
I'm not sure about the legality of my query so if the mods feel it so, delete away!
I bought Medal Of Honor: Pacific Assault recently and found out that I could create an image of the disk and mount a virtual drive so I wouldn't have to have the disk in all the time. So I created an image of the disk using Nero and created a virtual drive onto which I loaded this game. In Windows Explorer, it comes up correctly, as an optical drive and has all the necessary files on it. However, when I run it, it says "Please insert DVD-ROM" or something to that effect. Obviously this defeats the whole purpose of creating a virtual drive so...does anyone have any advice? |

The fact that you own the game makes this a legal process, in my opinion.
However, the fact that it's asking you for the original disc is copy protection at work. Thus, there really is no point mounting the image in a virtual drive to achieve what you want to do. Freakitchen

After multiple attempts, I got it working using Alcohol 120%. I made an image of the disk and mounted it on a virtual drive. And it worked. Nice one.

If you're ever having problems with the Alcohol 120% virtual drive, it could be because it has been 'blacklisted' by some copy protection systems.
Consider Daemon Tools, a specific (and free) virtual drive programme not affected by such protection. Freakitchen |
