Computer's Graphics are misbehaving.

When I load up Rome - Total War and move around my mouse, it looks like it has the mouse tail, but the tail never goes away, and neither does the last screen that Rome showed. I reinstalled the game, doesn't help. I updated my graphics drivers, it doesn't help. (updated them following the guide to properly updating drivers thread). I tried going back to directx9.0b, which is what Rome comes with, doesn't help. 9.0c doesn't help either.

What gets me even more is that any other program I run works fine. Even the F.E.A.R. Demo, whose requirements are alot higher than Rome's, works just fine on max settings. Halo works fine. I scanned for spyware/adware/viruses, and nothing is there.

My computer's specs are Athlon64 3700+, Geforce 7800GT, 2GB of PC3200 memory.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Is there an update for the game itself? It sounds like the version you have is buggy.

yes, but I have the updated version.

After a bit of digging, I found the problem. My codecs were screwed up, and to fix them I reinstalled Windows Media Player 10. That fixed it. Wierd huh?

Thanks for your help.
