AVI conversion
ok....my friend gave me some video clips...he burned them on a CD-R. they are AVI files I believe. How do I convert this to another form? or what do I need to convert it to in order to burn it to a DVD-R disc.

There's an excellent bunch of guides for video conversion at www.doom9.org
They give step by step guides as well as links to (ususally free) software that perform the conversions. In my experience, though, AVI-DVD is not the quickest or easiest of conversions! Freakitchen

RE: avi conversion
if you wanted to convert the avi to DVD-video then use something like WINAVI or a freeware called VSO DivxToDVD version less then 1.0 is free; if you wanted menus, then its a long and complex job. last, if you have a standalone DVD player that can play DIVX then you just write the AVI to DVD-R as data files.
