Problems in running games

I have several games for my daughter that refuse to run on my machine. They seem to install fine, but when it come to running them, they start off like they are going to run, but then they minimize on the screen and won't open. My specs are listed below. The games are suppose to run on XP, but won't. If it was a problem with just one game, I would think it was just the game, but it is several. I've tried running in combatibility mode for 98 as well, but no sucess. Any ideas?

They are new from last Christmas, but I'm just now testing them out. My current machine is the only one I've tried them on.

What are the minimum specs on the games?

Or, if you prefer, what are the games?

In looking at all the names of the programs, I noticed that they are all made by "The Learning Company."

Each of the disks are titled:

1) Adventure Workshop, Preschool-1st Grade, Arthur's Computer Adventure.
2) Adventure Workshop, Preschool-1st Grade, Dr. Seuss Kindergarten.
3) Adventure Workshop, Preschool-1st Grade, Little Bear Rainy Day Activities.
4) Adevnture Workshop, Dr. Seuss Edition, The Cat in the Hat.
5) Adventure Workshop, Dr. Seuss Edition, Geen Eggs and Ham.
6) Adventure Workshop, Dr. Seuss Edition, Dr. Seuss's ABC.
7) Reader Rabbit, Dreamship Tales

Ok well in that case the requirements aren't the problem.

I did a few searches on those products, and the only thing that might even be remotely helpful to your situation is

1. Make sure you're in 256 color mode (might wanna try this even if you're on a better color setting....you never know)

2. Make sure you have the latest drivers installed for your video card.

This is all the best I can help with...the answer might be something completely off the wall though, you never know. Once I was having touble with Rome - Total War, it just wouldn't run, and the solution was to reinstall Windows Media Player 10. It had a logical explanation, but you'd never think of it otherwise!

What type of video card do you have? Even though those games will likely have extremly low requirements the games won't run if there is a directX incompatibility or something.

Thanks to all for your input. How do I find out if I have the latest drivers for my video card? I posted the kind of video card I have in my previous post.

That's a good question. If I have a problem that might be my drivers, then I usually just uninstall my current one and install the new one, even if it's the same (because I don't know how to figure out if I'm using the right ones).

I'm sure someone else around here knows.

You should be able to find it in your control panel

I looked in my control panel and I don't know how I am able determine what drivers I have for my video card and what drivers I may need. I've been out of town for a while, so I'm just now checking the lastest post. Anyone who knows about drivers, please help me understand more about them.
