Is WinMX still around????

I've been trading on WinMX for a little while now with no issues. Now I can't connect to the network. I did'nt change any settings but the Connection status keeps flashing yellow. In the past the connection was made in a couple of seconds. Have they been shut down, or is it a problem at my end?

Not surprised. P2P in that sense is almost word for word illegal in US Law.

Limewire or Newsbin...for legal purposes only

Try Limewire or start using newsgroups...of course you need to ensure you do not violate any copyright laws!

I've installed bearshare and can't get through my firewall. I've turned off all firewalls in Win XP but am unable to get through router. I'm on a network and don't have access to router settings. Winmx was no problem on the network.

We have little control over our advertisements - because we use a service. I wouldn't exactly call them a "sponsor" even though that's what it says.

BearShare shut down?

I used BearShare just yesterday... I don't think it's been shut down. Although you've got to love their "AdWare" that comes packaged along with it.
