Question A Powerpoint Issue

Hi

I have a very important issue that I would like to get a response for.
As you know, the PowerPoint Application is the most widely used for presentations, but many people buy cheap computers with minimum software and they don’t come with PowerPoint (nor even Microsoft Office) they come with some second hand presentation application that very few people use, some of these cheap computers come with Corel Presentations Application but the problem is that if some friend sends you an Email with a PPS attached you won’t be able to see the presentation with Corel, you must have PowerPoint to see PPS.

Now, my questions are:

1.- Is there some way for people that do not have PowerPoint installed (it is an expensive application) to watch PPS they received at some Website that enables you to watch it?

2.- Is there in the market any universal converter that enables you to convert PPS to Corel presentation file (for people that have Corel Presentations) so you can watch that PPS?

3.- Is there a way to convert PPS to .AVI (video) file so you can watch that presentation on your
Windows Media Player (or Real Player)?

I would appreciate any suggestions to solve this issue.

1. Yes, you can export your presentation as a web page and can be viewed in any browser. Also I think there is a little program that allows you to view them, but I don't know what it is called.

2. Not sure, but I bet there is.

3. I think there is, I remember seeing it somewhere...

For question 1. I believe powerpoint has a way to package the entire powerpoint presentation into an .exe file which includes a standalone viewer. On the file menu, there should be a selection called "Pack and Go".

There is a Package for CD option. You can either copy to a folder or CD. It includes a Powerpoint viewer program and the necessary files to play it.

One fix for viewing is to install the PowerPoint viewer from MS:

Don't know of any converters, though...

Yeah, that's the program that gets packaged with the CD.

OpenOffice (windows Version) will allow others who don't have powerpoint to open, edit, view, present, and create, Powerpoint presentations. And it's free.

http://www.openoffice.org/

Just remember that when you go to save a document in OpenOffice, choose from the options to save it in the correct powerpoint format.

Hey guys, note the date on this thread.
If you've got new info we can all use put a link in a new post instead of reviving an old thread.
I'm locking this one.
