Gmail
Not sure if this is the right place for this question, therefore let me know if I need to move it. I have to change email address again, due to change in internet provider. I want an email provider that is permanent, thus one that is not connected with my internet service that I have to get rid of every time I switch providers. I have yahoo and hotmail, but don't use them for various reasons. I was curious if any one used Gmail? If so what are the pros and cons? I searched around and it appears I still need an invite.
If I can't use Gmail does anyone have any suggestions to a comparable email provider? Thanks, Matt |

I sent you an invite to Gmail, I use it because it is not tied into a ISP and can access it from anywhere. It has no ads that show on your mail page, plus it has all the room you could possibly want, no more notices telling you that your getting close to your space limit.

I use Gmail too. I used to use Outlook Express to download my email b/c my school email account had limited access. One day OE crashed a bit and deleted some of my emails since it was attempting to compress them when I didn't know about it and well, it crashed. ANYWAYS... I use thunderbird to download my Gmail messages but Gmail allows you to "Archive" all your emails so I have a copy of all my emails on my computer but I can access my email from anywhere still. If I need remote access to an email, it's there in my Gmail archive, ready for my viewing.
If you download your email like I do, you can create filters to sort your mail or you can put them in various folders. With the web interface, you can label your email and filter them too, and you can search through your emails for whatever you're looking for. You can also download something called Gmail Notifier and it tells you almost automatically when you have received email.

I love gmail, save all my school work on it or any important files as a third back up.

Love gmail
I use it all the time for conversations between friends. It's also great for sending pictures back and forth since a lot of my friends are stuck back in singapore. I'd use it to send my homework.. if my primitive american school would allow me to use the computers to use my email... or my USB dongle...Anyway Gmail's awesome. I wonder if i'll see the day that Google rules everything and we are 'puny earthlings' and have huge inboxes. Mwhahaha
