virtual memory error message
I need some help My computer keeps popping up a virtual memory low error message. here is the message that pops up in the notification area:
"Windows - virtual memory minimum too low you system is low on virtual memory. windows is increasing the size of your virtual memory paging file. During this process, memory requests for some applications may be denied." that is the message I recieve in a exclamation pop up box. here is what I got under virtual memory Drive: C: Space available 61482 System managed size Total paging file size for all drives Minimum allowed: 2 MB Recommended: 382 MB Currently allocated: 382 MB So what can I do to fix this problem?? please any help would be great ![]() I am running windows XP home edition 2.00 Ghz pentium 4 80GB hard drive 250GB nvidia fx 5200 video card 256MB RD ram If ya need to know more let me know please thank you!! |

MS KB has a suggested fix that may help. Worth a try. Download the Intel Application Accelerator. Some kind of problem with some Intel chipsets and XP Upgrade.

Even simpler - have you tried manually increasing the size? I'd recommend 768 minimum and maximum. 256mb ram with XP is a bit light for multitasking. Normally I'd recommend you get more ram, but RDram is frightfully expensive.

I'll try the increase in min and max and see if that works.
thx for the info. let ya know if that works ![]() on my virtual memory screen it says: Custom size: Initial size (MB): ______ Maximum size (MB): ______ so all I have to do is set both of those to 768?? just asking, I don't know much about virtual memory Last edited by Tsalagi; 10-06-2005 at 06:07 AM. |
