How do I do a system Restore?
I figured out how to set it up.. so that it is monitoring. BUt how do I actually revert back to the system restore point. I ran a Registry Cleaning program and It did such a number on my computer that nothing is working.

No OS listed so I will assume Win XP.
Open control panel, select 'Performance and Maintenance' in upper left corner click on 'System Restore' and on the new window select 'Restore my computer to an earlier time' Pick a date that has a restore point and hit 'Next' twice.

Well I just did the system restore, and nothing happened. It's the same as it was before I did the restore. It was a registry mechanic program, so it should have fixed the registry files. However, it didn't. Any other suggestions?

Did you did pick a restore point prior to the reg cleaning program being used?
Picking a point after it did the damge will not get you any where. If you did go back further than the damage date, then your most reliable fix would be to do a repair install of XP, here are a couple of guides. http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/u...ps/doug92.mspx http://www.michaelstevenstech.com/XPrepairinstall.htm Some one else might have another suggestion so I'd hold on for a bit and see if anything shows... |
