Windows Media Player ver 10 and AVI files

I can hear the sound from the files but no video. I know they work, for they work on other people's PC's so to me that tells me I am missing files or/and using the wrong player to view them. Please assist.

We were both right, what I needed was a DivX. I found a free full package of it, and any player I have now plays AVI files w/video.
