Win 98/ME installer - can i install on Win XP?

I am a student using music software called Pro Tools. There is a free download for this through the creators web site. However when I try to run the install on Win XP it says it needs Windows 98 SE or higher. Is there anyway of getting this install to work with XP? I know there was a way of running programs in Win 98 mode but doin't know if this applies to installs.

Thanks for looking.

Have you looked through the support section on the site you downloaded from? Could be a common problem..

There is no support section unfortunately, just a download page form their site. Don't think they support the free version.

Have you tried the XP Program Compatibility Wizard?
It's something of a longshot but worth a try.
Make a System Restore point before you start.

Just a thought but wouldn't that need the program to actually be installed first?

Actually no.
The occassional NForce board drivers won't install unless you use the Win 2000 compatibility mode to do it.
Read this reply from nforceHQ : http://www.nforcershq.com/forum/cant...s-vt60042.html
And one of my customers insists on keeping an old video card that I install drivers for using the win 98 compatibility.
