adv/disadv of defragging?
i've seen several posts about defragging harddrive and how it improves performance of the system.
so really, what's the advantage/disadvantage of defragging? |

Advantages: faster file access, consolidation of free space.
Disadvantages: none really. You do have to take time to do it, but I schedule a weekly defrag in the middle of the night, so it doesn't affect me at all. Don't expect huge performance improvements, though. It may slightly improve the performance of your hard drive if you have a severely fragmented volume. |

G'day
At least once a week I do the following: First I clean the files with "ccleaner" then I use "jv16 PowerTools" to clean the registry, then defrag the HDD with O&O.It's faster and does a better job than Windows defrag. I also defrag the registry with "Registry Toolkit" and use "page defrag" for he paging file. from time to time I run "AnalogX DLLArchive" to get rid of obsolete dll files. You will be shocked to see how many of them there are. If I do that my PC is always fast and snappy. Good luck John
