Problems with Filemaker Pro 8

I recently installed FM8 on windows xp with sp2. I can access the application the first time during the day just fine, but subsequent times it will not open. I cannot get the application open via the desktop icon or the icon within the program folder itself. Any ideas?

Before trying to open it again, open task manager and look in the process list, it's probably actually still running. Terminate the process(es) and it will then open. I've seen this with various programs before.

Actually, no. It was not running. I encountered this problem with several other applications after installing service pack 2. I cannot access the firewall, either. I know there is something to do with sp2 and my computer setup.
