Microsoft Works 8

Hi

Whenever my friend turns on his computer, he gets the following error message.

Microsoft Works 8 has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry ...........

It also does this when he trys to use the calendar and the calendar never works but his spreadsheet works fine.

He has a new Compaq from Best Buy with XP on it.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Has he tried reinstalling the software? Usually those computers come with software restoration CD's.

That is the support article from Microsoft, however it calls for a CD. Maybe it will give you a kick in the right direction.

In that case there should be a restore partition on the hard drive he can reinstall from.
Dig out the manual and find it.
Also, the computer may be set up so that he can burn his own restore disks.
HP machines are set up that way and I'm betting the Compaqs are now as well.

If he has Compaq pc he has the option to create Restore DVD as well as the restore partition, If his computer is setup like mine he has option to create a restore DVD on the start menu under PC Help and Tools.
