RAWrite
I was told to install a program a while ago called MemTest to see if my RAM was malfunctioning. I have that problem resolved, and I no longer need the program. It was installed on a floppy disc, so that is no problem, but now I have an icon on my desktop called "rawrite" and I can't delete it. It says that the program is in use. How do I delete this program, or should I leave it there?
Thanks |

Thats odd. Try to boot in safemode (press F8 on boot) and delete it there.

Rawwrite is a utility for writing floppy image files to a floppy. There are both dos and windows versions. The image files which rawrite addresses are created in linux/unix using the "dd" command. dd gives an exact sector by sector duplicate image of the floppy which is necessary for bootable floppies. Since "dd" is not available for windows/dos, rawrite fills that gap for windows users.
Memtest uses a dd image file for its floppy image so in order to create a bootable memtest floppy, you need rawrite which was undoubtedly installed when youy created the memtest floppy. Try going into Add/Remove Programs and see if either Rawrite or Memtest is listed. If it is you can remove the program from there. |
