C:\WINDOWS\o2cLicStore.bin Problem

Hi everyone.
I need serius help here i have this software called 3D Home Desighner and for some reason when i try to use it this error appears-

There is already a license storage file, but its invalid now.please remove this file:
C:\WINDOWS\o2cLicStore.bin
The program will now terminate now, please try again after removing that file.

I have located the file above and i did delete it but after deleting it when i try to use the software it says C:\WINDOWS\o2cLicStore.bin is missing so i compleatly uninstalled 3D Home Desighner and re-Installed it and i still get the same error above about the License storage file.
Can you help me ?

Have you searched the software company's support site for this issue? I don't have a clue who puts this package out and can't get much out of Google except in French and Russian.

The one hit I did get did recommend that you rename the file, not delete it (and there was no indication of a resolution). It may be too late now to do anything without the software company's support.

I done all that and i still get the error message-

There is already a license storage file, but its invalid now.please remove this file:
C:\WINDOWS\o2cLicStore.bin
The program will now terminate now, please try again after removing that file.

Found this : http://www.pcreview.co.uk/forums/pri...ad.php?t=86284
Seems you're not the only one.
Read it through and then post back before you do anything.

Not much there - that's all I could find in English myself. That's what I was referring to.

If you feel comfortable playing in the registry, maybe uninstall it again and remove all references to that file, the software, and software company in there. Somewhat drastic, but you may have to do it. Maybe a GSP tech could talk you through it. I know I've had to do stuff this severe to get rid of Norton.

glc,
Can we ask vieux richard for this ?
He's our most frequent francophone and he'd have a better chance of getting a good answer.

Okay got it.
This is one of those Google translations :
< 9 > - removal of file
Not member CCM Addition by the Tzarina From Leningrad ( 01/03/2005 to 17:44 GMT+1)

is necessary to remove the C:\windows\o2clicstore.bin file which is a hidden system file. One thus owes first of all paramètrer his posting:
- (for Windows 98): go in the working station then in small Affichage/Options of the files/Onglet Posting, and in the heading "Files hidden", coachman the box "To post all the files" and click OK.
- (for Windows Me and XP): go in the working station then in small the tools/options of the files/Onglet Posting, and in the heading "Files hidden", coachman the box "To post all the files" and strip the box "to mask the files protected from the systême of exploitation".

Then double-click the Working station, the local disc (C, the Windows file and seek the file o2Licstore.bin and remove to it (clic left top and touches Suppr. keyboard).

Launch the software and to answer the message YES, a second still indicates that it license was re-initialized for it, a few seconds and the software opens quickly to be closed again all alone in the tread. To launch again Architecture normally.

In other words : Go into My Computer >Tools>Folder Options>View>Show Hidden Files.
Then go find that file in the Windows folder of your C drive and delete it.
Reboot and reinstall the software.

So first step, uninstall the software again.
Go into the Programs file on your C drive in MY Computer and make sure you've got all the files for it.
Then follow the instructions for getting rid of that hidden file.
Reboot and reinstall.
Remember that you're keeping the copy of the program just removing the install.
If you've got any questions post back first.

Thanks
Ive tried all that.
but cannot get it to work.
I contacted GSP (who are the software publishers) a few days ago and they sent me another copy of 3D Home Desighner and they said just uninstall the old version go into C:/ and delete any more files left behind from 3D Home Desighner and i did then i deleted the file that is causing all the problem-C:\windows\o2clicstore.bin

Then they said reboot your computer and re-install the the copy we sent you.
So i done all that and i still get the same message.

So you still have the copy installed?
Go into hidden files and just delete that one file and see how the program responds then.

I deleted the one file -C:\windows\o2clicstore.bin
And when i try to run the program it says the file is missing (Obviusly because ive delted it.)
So i re-install the new copy they sent me and i still get the same error message although ive deleted C:\windows\o2clicstore.bin file and re-installed the new one.
What exactly does that file do anyway?
Thanks.

It's probably the licensing file - without it, the program won't run. There must be a registry issue of some sort the way I'm guessing.

I think we have other Francophones here - anyone who is, we'd appreciate their help with the Google hits.

AMD posted here : http://forum.pcmech.com/showthread.php?t=144562
about another install problem.
Is it possible that they're related?
If that system restore disk has an outdated copy of Norton on it that could be the problem.

Yes Yes the system restore disk does include Norton Antivirus & Firewall on it .
Is this a problem?
Everytime i do a System restore it installs Norton Antivirus and firewall to but i always uninstall them as they take up too much system resources.

The problem is that they may not completely uninstall ( Norton is notorious for that).
Thus leaving you with enough bits and pieces to cause problems, like with AVG and, just possibly, 3D design.
If you'll tell us what version you have we can show you where, on the Symantec site, there are instructions for the complete uninstall.

edit : I forgot to ask. What is your history with the design software?
If you'd never used it on that computer or if you used it earlier and now it no longer works that info, and anything you were doing around the time it stopped working, would help us pinpoint the problem.

It was Norton 2003.
And yes i did use it 3D Home Desighner on my computer earlier it worked fine.
I cant think of anything that i was doing around the time it stopped working
other than the usual ,Internet surfing,Playing games.
But whenever i done a System recovery, i could re-install 3D Home desighner and run it with no problems and still after i had uninstalled Norton and it worked fine then.
But now even if i do a System restore again it still dosent work.

If i could i would just re-install windows to save all the messing around but Unfortunately i never got the Windows disk when i purchased my pc.

Okay, a rehash before we go any further.
You have an OEM comp that you regularly reformat ( use the system restore disk).
Recently this has stopped working and you have install problems with programs.
Glc thinks you've corrupted the registry and you're still reinstalling Norton's 2003 in the fall of 2005.
This pattern suggest that you've damaged, however inadvertently, either the the restore disk and/or the restore partition on your hard drive.
It may also mean that your updates are inadequate.
The restore disk can be replaced without hassle but if you have a hard drive partition you'll need to do more (That can be redone).
What (Whose) computer have you got, what are it's specs, what's backed up?
This sounds like a major software re-think that you put off for too long (Just the XP updates aren't the whole story.).
With luck it'll be mostly time, not cash, consuming.
Anything you didn't tell us before tell us now.

Grab your manual.
I think HP allows you to burn your own restore disks.
All you may need is a new one.

Also, in addition to burning a new disk, remember that you can restore the computer from the restore files.

Thanks for all your help guys ive now found a fix for the probem .
It was apparently a know issue that the software desighners described as a bug.
so they sent me a few files and it now works perfect.
I appreciate all you time and effort you put into helping me.
Greatly appreciated.
