system files won't install?

Hey all,
My friends dental office recently got a new computer and are running XP and they are trying to install a program called Easy Dental 3.0 which they used to run on Windows 95 until they got this new computer. When they tried to intall it nothing would work, so I had them install it under the Windows Compatitbility mode for Windows 95. When they go through the installer, there are 6 parts of the program to install, and the first 5 do so without a problem. However, step 6 is installing the system files, which contains the database part of the program which is what they really need. Any ideas? They backed up the patient database with 3 floppies like they always have, is it possible that the system files would be on these floppies? seems to me they should be on that easy dental install disk??? thanks for any help

Steve

Windows XP protects system files - and the install is probably trying to overwrite them. You may not be able to get this old program running unless you want to take a chance and disable system file protection.

ok, 1 more question

Thanks glc...from what I can tell it seems that is the problem. If I do go ahead and try that and I get lots of problems I suppose I could just do a clean reinstall of windows right? It is a brand new machine so there isn't much on there I would lose if this doesn't work and I have to reinstall. Or maybe reverting back to a system restore point would work? If this is innacurate please let me know. Thanks again
