Problem with Gateway Goback

Hi all,

I am trying to fix a computer for a friend. I am doing a fresh install of windows 2000 on his machine, he tried, and could not get it working. I formatted the c drive and installed win2k fresh. When it loaded and restarted, I get a screen that says Gateway/Adaptec Goback is installed! The machine will not boot, the goback screen just appears and goes away over and over again. When I click the spacebar, it says goback is disabled. It will not let me enable it. Two things are weird, How is this program here when I reformatted the c drive?, and it is not even a gateway machine. It is a homemade computer with an ECS K7SEM board. Does anyone know of a way to disable, or uninstall this? Or how it even exists after a format?

Thanks

Read through this thread : http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=33663

It turns out to be a problem with GoBack.

Thank you so much! I have never heard of zero fill, or did I know that after a format, some data could still linger on the drive. I searched for zero fill on this site and found in an older post, you recommended Darik's Boot and Nuke program to clean the drive. I tried it and it worked like a champ! Learn something new every day. Thanks again for the help.
