Hi
Can some please tell me if Limewire is actualy Legal? |

It is illegal in the United States. P2P (Peer to Peer) was ruled illegal in a court of law several months ago.

i am prety sure its legal in the uk, i live in london and use limewire as a great way to distribute freeware, but remember, p2p is very shady area so if u download limewire, remember what you are using it for

The ruling was that p2p companies can be held liable for the illegal actions of their users, not that p2p is illegal. That would be akin to saying a camera or phone is illegal because they can be used for illegal purposes. Limewire is perfectly legal to own and use as long as you are not sharing another persons property.

Be aware of the security threats that go along with P2P, many a times spyware and other viruses spawn and spread through P2P file sharing and application. Just thought you might want to know about that too.

and remeber, certain files in limewire are not what their filename suggests, be wary

the program itself is legal, but unless an item is liscensced (sp?) to be freely downloaded, it is illegal to download it. But since there is no way to control what is put up on the network, music, videos, etc. are able to be downloaded illegally.
