nero 7 burning issue

i have nero 7 and a combo drive and a dvdrw drive
i am able to burn cds on both drives if i burn something off of the hard drive
but i am not able to do a direct burn from one cd drive to the other
(like copy a cd)
my roomate also has nero 7 and can do a direct burn
neither of us can figure out what is different between our two setups
im assuming its a software issue
i dont know if there is some way you have to configure the drives to do a direct burn
ive never had a problem like this before and ive been repairing and building computers for a while now
im just not all that great on the software end
i have a sony combo drive and an nec dvdrw drive

You cannot do an on-the-fly copy of a CD if both IDE drives are on the same IDE port. Try moving the drives to different IDE ports and it should work. That's a limitation in the way IDE was designed.
