Real Player 10 Basic & Quicktime 7 Problems [Pics]

I downloaded the Real Player 10 Basic Installer from the realnetworks.com website.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...e2527/Icon.jpg

When I open it, during the installation, I get this Error.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...7/80b21956.jpg

and the installation fails and shuts itself.

----------------------------------------------------------

I downloaded the Quicktime 7 Standalone Installer [without Itunes] from the apple.com website.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...cktimeIcon.jpg

When I open it, during the installation, I get these Errors.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...tallation3.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...tallation2.jpg

After the installation, it says it was sucessful. PictureViewer works fine, but whenever I open Quicktime, I get the "Error 46: Cannot find or load the ActiveX Control" error again.

I wouldn't install Real Player or Quicktime unless I absolutely HAD to, they have both become very bloated and intrusive. I use Real Alternative and Quicktime Alternative.

Quicktime isn't that bad - you can go to the Austrailian site and get a version not bundled with Itunes. Real Player should be permanently banned from the internet - It will wreck havoc on your computer.

What type of files are you trying to play? Can they be viewed in other apps (i.e. WMP) ?

I agree, and I second the recommendation of Real Alternative and Quicktime Alternative. I haven't installed Real player or Quicktime since I discovered them.

Aren't these two programs something you must need to view some videos on the internet? I like to view some game trailer and stuff and somtimes you can only view it with quicktime.

That's exactly what Quicktime Alternative and Real Alternative are for. They are replacements that use Windows Media Player Classic for playback of Quicktime and RealMedia files.

Arent real and quicktime alternatives just MPC? All I do is install k-lite codec pack which installs every codec you could ever need and MPC. It will play anything, even flash.

I don't believe the K-Lite Codec Pack includes Quicktime or RealMedia codecs. You're right otherwise. With the K-Lite pack, Quicktime Alternative, and Real Alternative you can play just about anything in WMP 10 or classic.
