Windows Blinds Probelm

I am having trouble with the Windows Blinds program. I'm trying to unistall it and it gives me this error. The error read, "Could not open INSTALL.LOG file". I wan to get rid of this program because its changing my theme to the Windows old style menu and no matter what I do I can't change it back. I have reinstalled it and its doing me no good.

Open your program folder in the C drive, that's My Computer, and see if there are any Windows Blinds folders in there.
Download and install this program : http://www.worldstart.com/weekly-dow...cleaner4.3.htm
Open it and look for any Windows Blinds files.
You're going to be removing them by hand, using regcleaner after deleting any folder for that program on your C drive.
When your done run disk cleanup and be sure you empty the recycle bin.
Now go into Display Properties and set your desktop theme to the way you want it.

This program is such a nightmare and I'm getting sick of it. Now when I go to the Stardock folder it tell me, "Cannot delete wbhelp.dll file: access is denide make sure the disk is not full or right protected and that the file is not currently in use." I have 20 gigs free right now. I used that program you gave me and deleted the entre in my registry so when I start windows its not running. I have no idea. I'm about to use an old fashion hammer!

Hold down F8 at start-up and go into safe mode.
Clean up anything else that remains from there.
It's not a great idea to download 'skins' programs or things like "comet cursors".

Okay, you installed spyware on your computer, that's a dodge to prevent you from uninstalling it.

Go get this and see if it helps : http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

This is an explanation of what you've got : http://www.eweek.com/article2/0,1895,1896605,00.asp

I ran the program. It didn't find anything. The Program is from a company called Stardock if that helps at all.

The Stardock Object Desktop is a little scary.
I was wrong in dismissing it as spyware but there's no doubt that it sinks itself deep into your windows' install.
If the uninstaller glitches for any reason getting rid of the thing is going to be a hassle of the first order.
Despite the files that remain how is the computer acting?

Everything seems to bein order. The computer runs nise and everything. I went into the properties on my desktop and you're right. Some of the options have window blinds options on them. This program had a good grip on my comp. Maybe stardock has forums or something?

edit : the typo might have been misunderstood.

Yeah, I'd ask over there.

That's strange, I've never had a problem with Windows Blinds, the trial expired and I uninstalled it with no problems - it's a perfectly legit program.

Okay, I think the program is gone now. I used the Zipper program from Stardock. Now, I can't get back my windows XP default skin. The only thing I see for option is the classic skin witch I odn't want.

Your trial expired? That's strange. Mine just comes up with a "Buy me now" message once a day. Some day I might just pay for it.

I like WindowBlinds because I can make my PC look however I want. It has to "dig deep" because it needs to change all of the stuff that MS sort of locked down in XP.

I found something out though. When I right click/properties/appreance and then fo the Windows and Buttons menu, it only gives me the option to take Windows Classic. It dosnt give me the option to Windows XP. It as if it were deleted.

If you have an XP cd, not a restore cd, you can repair the install and get everything back without losing your data.
Do you have one?

When I try to do that I get this

Setup cannot continue because the version of Windows on your computer is newer than the version on the CD.

Warning: If you decide to delete the newer version of Windows that is currently installed on your computer, the files and settings cannot be recovered.

and it dosnt give me the option to continue

I was thinking. I think it gave me that error because I have SP2 in there. I also think I fully got rid of stardock. The folder is gone and I used the redcleaner program you gave me to get rod of thoughs registry files.

Stardock is gone then.
If you repair the install you'll have to reinstall SP2 and all your updates.
But a quick trip to windows updates should do that.
