Hi,
Hope someone can help, i rely on my e-mail and receive up to 30 a day. All important. I went out leaving my computer on, when i came in i put a light on and the fuse box blew. Now when i open Outlook Express it immediately says 'page not responding' and is stuck on an e-mail that must have been downloading at the time the fuse blew. The mouse pointer is just the hourglass but nothing will happen. I have done a search on Google to find a 'fix', but all i have come across is registry fixes, (i have never been in the registry). Or to reload OE, i do not have a copy as this is a ready built computer with a backup disc. I cannot lose any of the information in my inbox. I backup regularly usually, but haven't done so for a couple of weeks. Forgot to mention, i am running Windows XP with SP1. Thanks in advance for any help. Electron. |

Try selecting one of the subfolders.

Search for inbox.dbx and copy it to a temp folder. Then delete the original inbox.dbx, see if OE will open now. If it does, with an empty inbox, use the import wizard to import the inbox back in. You will choose import from a store directory, point that to the temp folder where you copied the original inbox.

Brilliant!!!
Thanks GLC. Email up and running again, just a slight problem trying to import the messages. It comes up with no messages in the folder or folder being used. I am using Import from the File menu in Outlook Express, then it asks what e-mail program to import from, so i chose OE6, then browse to where the folder is. Is this correct. Thanks again, at least i am up and running again. |
