Task manager MISSING!! Cant be opened!

I just logged on to my account on win2k, and I cant open taskmanager. When I hit ctrlaltdelete I have the task manager option, but I cant click on it. I dont know how to explain it, but its "clear" like a button gets when you cant use it whereas the other ones are dark (Just as I'm typing this, I checked it again, and its working! I dont know what happened, as I didnt do anything). Same thing when I rightclick on the windows taskbar. Now its working though. What happened?

Might be a loose nut behind the keyboard! hehehe

Seriously, have you done a spyware/virus scan lately? Might be something playing nasty.

I've done a ton over the past few days as a matter of fact. Which has made my computer even slower... But thats a different topic.

I've found this:

http://www.windowsnetworking.com/nt/.../rtips56.shtml

Otherewise, I also saw that it might be a virus, or related to a install of some Norton software.

HTH

I've come across that when the account privledges are set below Power Users. I doubt this happened in your case, though. Or less perhaps you were on a domain?

You can try accessing it at C:\WINNT\System32\taskmgr.exe if it goes away again.
