Editing Video Question
My new computer has video editing software on it. I took a recording of some tv programs from my inlaws dvd recorder to see if I could edit out the commercials. The program (Intervideo WinDVD Creator 2) doesn't recognize the file type the recording is done in. The program only looks for
.avi .mpg .wvm .asf .dvr-ms The files done by the dvd recorder consist of 4 files .ifo .vob .vob .bup How would I go about making these files into an acceptable format to my video editing program? Thanks. |

Hi,
use VOBEdit to demultiplex the VOB files. You'll end up with the video and audio files, called the elementary streams. Best tool to cut is cuttermaran. Load the elementary streams into cuttermaran and cut out the commercials. Then you can use any authoring software to create a new DVD-Video. VOBEdit probably can multiplex to MPEG2 program stream, in case you don't wanna use cuttermaran. RJ

Wow - I checked out the VOBedit software - I need to do some reading and learning before I think I can make it work - but it certainly looks like the way to do it.
Thanks! |

Actually you only need to load a VOB, click on demux, check "demux all video streams" and "demux all audio streams".
If you recorded multiple footage to DVD, you might want to check "split on new VOB-ID" as well, but you'd have to try that. And that's about it ![]() RJ |
