Word 2000 Envelope utility problem

Hi:
I regularly use Microsoft Word 2000 to print envelopes. Recently, I used Word 2000 to print some labels (as you who are familiar with it know, the Label utility is in with the Envelope utility). Now, every time I try to print an envelope, the label text that I was using prints out on the envelope as well as the envelope information plus some other gibberish (2 or 3 random letters) that I don’t seem to know how to get rid of. There is nothing in the Label text field. I tried uninstalling & reinstalling Office 2000, twice, tried upgrading to Office XP, plus going into the registry between installs and deleting every reference to Microsoft word or Microsoft Office that I could find. Nothing seems to help! Can any one help me please?
Asus A7N8X-X 333MHzFSB, AMD Athlon XP-A 1913MHz (Barton), 512MB PC2700 DDR SDRAM, 80GB Maxtor HD, Sapphire Radeon 9200 128MB, W2K Sp4, HP 932C printer.
Thanks

Sure wouldn't hurt to seek out and destroy the hidden file called Normal.dot which is the default template. It'll get recreated next time you open word. (it's prone to corruption)

The file is located here: C:\Documents and Settings\Your User Name\Application Data\Microsoft\Templates

Uninstalling Office or Word doesn't remove this file.

Nope, didn’t work, thanks anyway! I give up! I found an old copy of Microsoft Works (stripped down OEM word processing program included with store-bought computers) which has an envelope utility included in it that seems to work for me. Looks like the only thing that will fix the Word problem is when I do my semi annual C: format & reinstall of the operating system. GRRRR! I just hate for Microsoft Word to get the best of me!!! Thanks very much for the help!
