avi convert it to dvd-r that plays dvds
I really am lost when it comes to media stuff and i was wondering what kind of programs are out there that converts avi files to mpeg 2? well the format that current dvd players play. i have no idea what to do... ive looked at various sites about their programs but most of them are spyware or adware or shareware. i want to buy it or get it for free.
would the new nero convert and burn?

Haven't had much cause to do this conversion, but I remember finding a programme simply called AVI2DVD...which was freeware. Try a google search, the conversion process wasn't excessively complicated if i recall, but I found a walkthrough guide which helped.

What are you trying to achieve? If you want to actually make movies (DVD) then you'll need software to do it. The format that is on a DVD is different than the source movie. If you want to edit and make movies, take a look at something like Roxio 7.5 or 8, or Nero 6 or 7. Though I've never used it, you can experiment with Window's movie maker, too. It may do what you want.

Using windows movie maker you can import the avi and then output to a dvd compatible format.

hmmm well i dont use windows movie maker, got er adobe premier and pinnacle studios...
and i got nero 7 |
