Windows Media Player
For some reason I cant play avi's with mindows media player. When it opens the file, its just all green, if I move the window around I can see the picture ok though... but who wants to watch a movie moving the window around your screen?

It sounds like you don't have the proper codecs installed. Try installing the K-Lite Codec Pack. It has many codecs and may solve your problem.
