Any program that will convert mp4s (Quicktime) to mpgs?

I have some mp4 files that will only play in quicktime, and I hate quicktime so I would like to convert them to mpegs, or any other format that windows media player will be able to use. Is there any utility that will do this?

If your just wanting to convert so you can play it in another player, perhaps you could look into VLC Media Player, for a quick fix.

http://www.videolan.org/vlc/

Its very light weight (9.2MB), and should be able to play just about anything!

Why don't you just uninstall Quicktime and install Quicktime Alternative? While you are at it, do the same with Real Player - install Real Alternative.

Video LAN is cool and plays the files, although I hate that cone icon.

I would not even have Quicktime installed, but itunes needs it to function and I use itunes, so that’s the only reason I have it. And I don’t even have Real Player on my computer, but I have heard of RA, I was not aware that there was a QT alternative as well.

Works the same way - installs the codecs and hooks them into Media Player Classic.
