Question OCR software...

I need some basic, and preferably free, OCR software for turning PDF files into plain text.
Suggestions?

If you don't mind evaluation software you could try one of these:

I haven't tried them myself, though, so I don't know if they're limited or not.

Thanks Snod Blatter.

oops, sorry! I should have said pdftotext instead of pdf2text. googling pdf2text gave me a ton of results to paid programs. xpdf (freeware) comes with a pdf text extractor (assuming the text is actual text and not contained in an image).

I was about to resign myself to paying for something.
