Exclamation Can't run 16-bit windows

I let a friend install start over and install Windows XP Pro for me, and when i got it back and tried to install "The Game of Life" just to play it, I got an error message that says "Can't run 16-bit windows program. Insufficient Memory to run this application. Quit one or more Windows applications and then try again. The problem is...I'm not running anything else at all. Can anyone help?

Have you tried running it in compatibility mode? I'm not familiar with that game - is it recent? Or old?

Some 16-bit DOS programs just won't run in Windows XP. This may be one of them.
