Unhappy FrameMaker autonumbering

I'm using FrameMaker 7.1 to create autonumbering for section headings in a book document that includes several chapters. The autonumbering is working for the document (e.g. 1.2 or 3.4) but is not working in the TOC. Instead, the TOC is just picking up one chapter number, and continuously numbering all the subheadings (e.g. 1.2 or 1.44 under chapter 5).

Does anyone know how to fix this? Thanks.

It sounds like you skipped a step somewhere when you set-up the autonumbering.
See if this helps you find out what you overlooked : http://www.techcomplus.com/reference/autonumbering.pdf

Page 7 is about chapter headings and tables of content.

If that won't help then googling should bring up more PDFs with instructions.
