MemTest86 usage question.

Hi, I have a question regarding memtest86.

If you use it will it damage any parts? I'm worried stressing it so much will it end up burning the RAM, or is there a stopping point or do I have to do it manually. And could someone briefly tell me how to use it? I don't have a floppy drive installed and i'm not sure if you can boot up via USB floppy drive.. I read on the site theres a way to boot up from CDROM. Could someone explain and answer my questions, thank you so much.

It will not damage any parts. You start and stop it yourself - manually. I recommend letting it run for 2 full passes unless you begin to see errors. ANY errors indicates defective memory. You can stop it by pressing the ESC key and removing the disk/floppy before the pc reboots.

You can make a bootable CD by burning the iso using Nero or a similar burning program.

I recommend Memtest86+ over the older Memtest86. You can get them another way too. Download and burn yourself an Ultimate Boot Disk. It's a great troubleshooting tool full of programs.
