Programs take extremly long to start up
Recently my computer has been a bit sick lately. I have done ad-ware scans, spybot search and destroy scans, AVG virus scanner, Trend Micro online virus cleaner, CCleaner, Tune up utilities registry clean up, quick check, and even defragged the comp.
But still simple small programs like irfanview takes an actual 2-3 minutes to boot up. My brother had adjusted the Page File System a few times..but that hasn't helped? Any suggestions? I'm seriously considering on reformating the comp.. |

Your hard drive may be failing. Get the hard drive diagnostic utility from the manufacturer's web site and test the hard drive with it.
Try another data cable (IDE or SATA) too. Cricket

it seems like it worked. I downloaded the diskette utility and ran it.
I started up the computer and programs were loading left and right as usual. I opened up irfan view and it came up pretty much in an instant. It is a very old hard drive had it since...i have no idea...a good 3-4 years now or more and it's a 10 gig drive Thanks for the help |
