16 bit Windows Subsystem
I was trying to start a program today, Adobe Premiere, and it wouldn't start up correctly. Finally decided to uninstall it and reinstall it. When I tried to reinstall it, a box came up:
16 bit Windows Substystem C:\Windows\System32\Autoexec.nt. The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Windows applications. Choose 'Close' to terminate the application. CLOSE IGNORE I've tried the ignore button Nothing happens. I've run 2 antivirus programs thinking I got something. Zero viruses found. Anybody have an idea? How can I fix this so I can run Premiere again? Thanks, Mark |

That file can sometimes get damaged or even deleted by a virus or other malware. I know you said you did 2 scans already but you might try another one like Housecall. They do a free online scan. You can get that HERE. Scan for Spyware too with something like Adaware or Spybot.
I'm guessing you're using Windows XP? If so, try doing this. Right click on the Start button and select Explore. When the explorer comes up, go to the Windows directory (the one further down that's in the C:\ root drive, not the one under the Documents and Settings area) and under that should be a directory named Repair. Inside the Repair directory should be a good copy of the Autoexec.nt file. Right click on it and select Copy. Under the same Windows directory is another directory named System32. Right Click on System32 and select Paste to put it in that directory. It may ask you if you want to overwrite the previous file, just select yes. This should put a good version of the autoexec.nt file back in the System32 directory.
