Question Excel error message

Does anyone know how to solve the problem that is causing the following error message with Microsoft Excel?

"A document with the name 'abc.xls' is already open. You cannot open two documents with the same name, even if the documents are in different folders.
To open the second document, either close the document that's currently open, or rename one of the documents."

This file is the only one with that filename on the hard drive and it is the only file that Excel has open so I don't understand what's going on.

TIA.

Colin.

http://www.contextures.on.ca/xlfaqApp.html#AlreadyOpen might fix the error. Another known fix for older versions of Word and Excel with the same issue is to mentioned here: http://groups.google.ca/group/micros...64df4a8a3dfc40
It involves a registry edit.
