Outlook not showing new e-mails (exchange server)

a client has been having problems with e-mail, often times e-mails from a few days back will come into his inbox, and some days he'll get no e-mail at all.

By chance, while on his computer, I noticed that he had a large number of reminders, I dismissed them all. Apparently, he had been "x'ing" them out over the years.

Since I did this, hehas reported an improvement.
Does Exchange have some kind of limitation on reminders that causes problems with e-mail retrieval?

A quick google search brings up the following:

I've never really seen any problem like that. What version of Exchange is he running?

The problem may not be Exchange but Outlook. I have seen filters applied 'by accident' that would send all messages to deleted items. I have also seen where they changed the default view to only show read messages. You could troubleshoot some of those problems by looking at it through OWA if you are using it.

If you send him a mail does he get it?

Wouldn't hurt to install SP2 for Office 2003.

yes, he appears to be getting all correspondence at this time. that's why i believe it had something to do with all the reminders he had

Doubtful if that article concerning the old as dirt Microsoft Mail could be it.

Keep in mind that because of the integration with Exchange some settings like rules will transfer with new installs.

Sometimes I have also seen problems like this caused because the emails are being cached to the local computer. I think that this is the default on Outlook 2003. You can press F9 to force a refresh..

yes cached would be a suspect, but cached is turned off, and all mail delivered to his online mailbox, no personal folders, and i checked, no rules. 1 week so far (since i originally touched his computer), he hasn't had problems since.
