Cheapest place for Microsoft Office?
I need a copy of office. I only need the most basic one with word, excel, and powerpoint. Does anyone know where the cheapest place to get it is?

where do live? which country?
live in US/Canada then go to COSTCO buy the academic version, it's under $200 last time I check, could be cheaper. or you can buy an OEM version on the WEB; I have not check, but I think it should be pretty cheap.(you have to wait some time for it to be shipped to you.)

This is the cheapest (non-academic) version I have found. I have no idea about the retailer:

Until you get Microsoft Office, you could always download OpenOffice.Org. It's a free Office replacement and will allow you to do pretty much everything that Microsoft Office will do. It has a spreadsheet/presentation/word processor etc. You can save documents in the .doc format, and spreadsheets in the .xls format etc...
Check it out at http://www.openoffice.org/ Scomac |

The MS Student and Teachers Edition is the least expensive. Best Buy has it for $149.99 for the 2003 version or you can buy it as an OEM disk only from Viosoftware for $99. I buy from them frequently and can vouch for their service.

I believe the academic version will allow for three installations. But depending upon how basic you have to get, I agree that Open Office may do the trick. If you actually get fairly complicated, then you need MS Office.
