DVD Burning goes out of sync

Hi I have recently downloaded some episodes of tv programmes to watch on dvd. the download is fine but when i use winavi converter to convert it to dvd it knocks the speech out of sync. this doesnt happen from the start of the programme though, it only goes out of sync when the programme goes to a break and it is stopped and restarted.(the person posting it has cut adverts out to save hassle)
when i watch it on windows it is fine all the wway through. the problem lies when it is converted to dvd format to be burnt. can anyone shed any light on this for me?
i am using xp if this helps.
thanks

Use DVD Santa to covert video files to DVD. It works much better. But I've found, that although DVD Santa can burn the files, I will get a more consistent outcome using DVD Shrink to burn the files that DVD Santa has converted.
