AOL Port Magic Question
I am noticing that when I work on a computer that has AOL9 and use my broadband connection for udates and etcetera that when I deliver it back to a customer who has dialup the Port Magic program pops up saying that the router was not found. Is there an option within Port Magic to turn off the search for the router which, if selected, will not prevent the program from running the next time I see the computer and want to use the broadband connection. The problem is that the customer percieves this message about not finding the router as a problem to be dealt with even though the dialup will work just fine when they click the X to close the message ballloooon.
Thanks, Alan |

Why don't you just dial it up once before returning it and clear the box yourself?

thanks glc,
herin lies the problem. i am forced to assume my repairs have been succesful on computers not connecting cause i do not have a land line. only roadrunner. alas, perhaps someone of my "calibre" should have one installed just to be sure. so when i send a computer home with someone they won't be able to figure this out. when i do return a computer myself i will try to do this. what i had decided to do was uncheck the port thing in msconfig then recheck it if it comes in to the shop again. i appreciate your help glc, alan |

Print out some basic instructions for the customer about this and send them with the box.
