Can't load Java

I am running Windows ME and have two sites I visit regularly. Both these sites require Java. I have had to remove Java and reinstall several times when it quits working. This time when I tried to remove I got message "error applying transforms. Verify that the specified paths are Valid" I down loaded Sun Java to my pc and got the same message when I tried to install on top of what was already loaded. Java does not work on these two sites. Is here any check I can use and what are the transforms?

You're registry is confused.
The basic correction is to remove all java and then use a registry cleaner to get anything left over.
The go download a whole new set of java plugins.
I usually use regcleaner : http://www.worldstart.com/weekly-dow...cleaner4.3.htm
but if you have another one you're famailiar with and like it will do the job as well.

Thanks PAM123, I used regcleaner on your recommendation. It allowed me to remove the old Java and plug-ins, but I still get the same message when I attempt to install new Java. Any more ideas? I am at that stone wall we've all heard of. Thanks for the help,
Jerry

PAM 123, I want to thank you so much for pointing me in the right direction. I have been to the Sun Jave site and looked for any info , but didn't see what you took me straight to, Everything is running fine now thanks to you. It was a simple fix and I thank you.
