More Windows Messenger woes.

Hey guys,

I've done everything I've possibly could to keep this thing from starting up with Windows. I used msconfig, went into the properties of the program and even diabled it entirely, but it keeps buggin' me. Is there a way to just uninstall this thing completely (other than deleting the folder in the program files)?

Thanks-
MakeYourslf2012

Have you tried removing it from the program files directory? When I did it, windows did not give me any grief. And even if it did, i would simply have to remove any registry keys pertaining to its startup. There are some 3rd party removal programs, but I dont remember what theyre called and where to find them. Id start with a google search for something like that.

You can use THIS program to disable Windows Messenger. It's GRC's Shoot the Messenger program.

There's 2 different things - the Windows Messenger service - and Windows Messenger IM. Shoot The Messenger gets rid of the service. Here is how to get rid of the IM:

Did you try opening it then going to tools--options--preferences--uncheck run Windows messenger when Windows starts?
